Following more than a week of workshops, which featured hours of discussion and sometimes heated debates, the Taylor County Commission has completed its proposed budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year, cutting 5% from all constitutional officers and county departments.
In a final move, the commission approved a series of additional cuts – including nearly a third of the Taylor County Development Authority’s (TCDA) budget – to cover the cost of combining the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office’s (TCSO) insurance policy with the county’s, a move that is expected to cost the county around $208,000.
