Carson Walter Coakley, 79, died July 21, 2018, in Taylor County. He was born March 31, 1939, in Buchtel, Ohio, to James Walter and Virginia Camp Coakley.
After graduating high school, Carson honorably served his nation for eight years in the United States Army. He then became a law enforcement officer, serving the City of Columbus, Ohio as a police lieutenant for 25 years before retiring. He then moved to Sebastian, where he served the people of Indian River County for 11 years as a lieutenant in the Sheriffs Department.
Carson moved to Taylor County in 2006, where he worked as an officer for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission for 10 years. He also worked at the Harrison Blue Roll Off Site. He was an avid fisherman, fishing the waters of the Great Lakes for many years.
Carson was preceded in death by: his father and mother; his sons, Carson Coakley Jr. and Steve Coakley; and his brother, Frank Coakley
He is survived by: his loving wife, Margot“Maggie”Coakley; his children, Gabi Magdsick, Laura Ann Heller, Marion Oliver and Robert Ronald Domingue; his brother, Raymond Myers; his sisters, Nancy Valois and Sue Veith; his seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 26, at Beggs Funeral Home in Perry. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to your favorite charity.
