When Taylor County schools open for the 2018-19 year in a few weeks, there will be a school resource officer (SRO) at each site, as required by a new school safety law passed last spring in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
The current plan also includes an additional eighth officer — providing for two SROs at Taylor County High School (TCHS) — as has been the practice over the past several years.
