Citing their ongoing “budget crunch,” county commissioners rejected a $572,248 low bid for asbestos removal and instead decided to begin the process of selling the former Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) building located on Ash Street.
Three firms — Lang Environmental, Inc., of Tampa, EHG, LLC, of Tampa and Peace of Mind Environmental, Inc., of Orlando — responded to the county’s solicitation for bids to remove asbestos from both the main two-story building, a one-story support structure behind it, as well as the demolition and removal of the support structure.
