    County to light up park & ramps, but not roads

    After hearing from a variety of residents during a lengthy public hearing, county commissioners voted 4-0 in favor of using Tourism Development Council “bed tax” revenues to purchase, install and maintain electrical service to lights at the Keaton Beach Boat Ramp and adjacent Keaton Beach Coastal Park, as well as the Steinhatchee Boat Ramp.

    Commissioners tabled a proposal to install approximately 10 additional lights along Keaton Beach Drive between the boat ramp and Hodges Park after hearing various concerns — including the potential impact on the county’s budget if residents in other areas of the county were to request the same services.
