This week, Taylor County Commission unanimously approved a contract with Florida Grown Harvesting, LLC of Wauchula, Florida, which submitted the lone proposal in response to the county advertising for bids to temporarily lease 296 acres of local county land for the harvesting of saw palmetto berries.
After formally receiving the bid earlier this month, the commission handed the bid over to a bid committee consisting of: Assistant County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton, County Extension Officer Clay Olson and Building Official Danny Griner, who returned with a recommendation and a contract drafted by County Attorney Conrad Bishop at the board’s Tuesday, Aug. 21, meeting.
