Review: ‘Jack’: year’s biggest box office bomb arrives on DVD, Blu-ray

2013-06-21-Jack-the-Giant-Slayer-Blu-ray-coverDespite its financial woes, however, “Jack the Giant Slayer” is a lot more fun than one might expect and while it suffers from several significant tonal problems, it’s a pretty solid popcorn flick.

Singer, best known today for the first two “X-Men” films, has proven himself capable of infusing depth into a story that in other hands would be entirely two-dimensional, and here he has the added benefit of a very capable cast.

The movie is rated PG-13 for intense scenes of fantasy action violence, some frightening images and brief language.

Not terribly surprising due to the lack of profit, but the extras for the DVD and Blu-ray releases are pretty limited, with only deleted scenes and a gag reel offered.
