    BREAKING: 2018 Primary Election Unofficial Results

    The Taylor County Supervisor of Elections Office has released the unofficial vote tallies for the Tuesday, Aug. 28, primary election.

    The following results include all 14 local precincts, as well as early votes and mail-in ballots. They do not include any provisions ballots, which will be counted on Friday, Aug. 31, according to Supervisor of Elections Dana Southerland.


    Feagle wins primary, advances to November

    Incumbent County Commission Chairwoman Pam Feagle advanced to the Nov. 6 General Election on Tuesday by defeating former City Recreation Department Director and retired county employee Glenn Ratliff by 117 votes in the Aug. 28 Democratic Primary.

    Feagle kept alive her bid to win a third consecutive term on the county commission by receiving 383 votes (59.01%) of the total 649 ballots cast, while Ratliff received 40.99% (266 votes).

    Pam Feagle (D) now advances to face Republican challenger Douglas Cruce in the Nov. 6 General Election.


    Hall defeats Williams for second council term

    Perry City Councilman Alan C. Hall (District 4) won a second term in office Tuesday, defeating challenger Mary Williams with 57.26% of the vote to 42.54%.

    Hall received a total of 154 votes, including election day ballots, early votes and mail-in ballots. Williams received 114 votes.

    Of the 712 registered voters within the district, 272 cast ballots (38.02%).

    Ketring wins seat on city council over Holton

    Ward Ketring pulled in more than 60% of the votes cast in the Perry City Council, Dist. 5 race, outpacing fellow challenger Tonya Holton for the seat.

    Ketring logged 216 votes (62.61%) to Holton’s 129 votes (37.39%).

    Incumbent David Sullivan, who initially filed to run for a second term, later withdrew his candidacy.

    Lundy wins seventh term on school board

    Longtime Taylor County School Board member Danny Lundy won a seventh term in office, defeating challenger Gina Jolley with 69.03% of the vote to 30.97% in Tuesday’s primary election.

    Lundy received 769 votes in the District 4 race, while Jolley received 345 votes.

    Of the 2,779 registered voters in the district, 1,144 cast ballots (41.17%).

    Voter approve ‘tax exemption’ referendum

    Taylor County voters overwhelmingly supported renewal of Taylor County’s main economic development tool, voting “Yes” on extending an “Economic Development Ad Valorem Tax Exemption” referendum for another 10 years during Tuesday’s Primary election.

    Taylor County commissioners were given the authority to continue to grant tax exemptions by a vote of 2,622 to 1,461.

    Over 64% of the 4,083 voters who cast a ballot on the question supported allowing county commissioners to continue to grant full or partial property tax exemptions to new and expanding businesses.

    Local voters last authorized county commissioners to grant the ad valorem tax exemptions during a Jan. 29, 2008 presidential primary election, approving the “County Property Tax Exemption Referendum” by a vote of 2,572 to 2,289 (52.9% in favor).
