    Farm Bureau announces local annual meeting planned Sept. 11

    The Taylor County Farm Bureau will hold its 2018 annual meeting Tuesday, Sept. 11, at the local County Extension Office located at Forest Capital Hall, 204 Forest Park Dr.

    The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a “Meet & Greet,” followed by the traditional Farm Bureau BBQ dinner at 6 p.m.

    An awards/recognition program will be followed by a short business meeting.

    Billy Murphy, Taylor County Farm Bureau president, said that Farm Bureau is a not-for-profit organization of some 1,100 local member families that is an advocate for:

    • The American Family Farm and its heritage.
    • The right to freely practice one’s religious beliefs.
    • Support of the nation’s constitution and laws.
    • A just and fair system of taxation.
    • An abundant and healthy domestic food supply.
    • Limited governmental intrusion and regulation.
    • Private property rights.
    • Preservation of the rural lifestyle.
    • Environmental practices based on sound science.
    • A competitive free market system.
    • A level playing field for world trade.
    • Freedom of opportunity.
    • Respect for our fellow man.
    • Programs that help develop the nation’s young people.

    Member families are encouraged to attend.

    Prospective members are also welcome to attend, and to join our local Farm Bureau to help promote agriculture and traditional values.
