    Dorothy Van Blaricum

    Dorothy Van Blaricum, 68, died Aug. 31, 2018, at Good Samaritan Center in Dowling Park. Dorothy was born June 9, 1950, in St. Petersburg to Odis and Clyde Davis.

    After graduating high school, Dorothy worked in the banking industry for a number of years, until enlisting in the United States Air Force, where she proudly served her country from 1997-1983. After being discharged from the air force, she returned to Florida, eventually settling in Perry with her husband and two children.

    Dorothy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where she and her husband participated as liturgical readers during the services and lead parish members in the Chaplet of Divine Mercy prayer before services. She loved animals and was affectionately referred to as “the dog whisperer” by family members, as she had never met a dog she didn’t like, or one who didn’t like her.

    Dorothy was preceded in death by: her parents, Odis and Clyde Davis.

    She is survived by: her husband of 37 years, Joseph Van Blaricum; her daughters, Laura Eddy and Sarah Chacon; her son-in-laws, John Eddy and Anthony Chacon; her sister, Marilyn Prill; her brother, Gary Davis; her granddaughter, Emma Eddy; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

    A memorial service was held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Perry on Thursday, Sept. 6, at 11 a.m. Memorial visitation was also held Thursday, Sept. 6, from 5-7 p.m. at the Beggs Perry Chapel. Dorthy will be laid to rest today (Friday) at 1 p.m. at Tallahassee National Cemetery.
