    Kathleen R. Davis

    Kathleen R. Davis, 95, died Sept. 11, 2018, in Tallahassee. Kathleen was born April 10, 1923 in Boyd to Arthur H. Ringer and Josephine Polhill Ringer.

    Kathleen was of the Baptist faith and was a member of New Home Baptist Church. She married William Sam Davis Jr. in 1938 and moved to Elizabeth City, N.C., where Sam worked at the Albemarle Lumber Company.

    Kathleen returned to Perry while her husband served in the Navy in WWII, and they returned to Elizabeth City, N.C. after his release from service. The couple returned to Perry in 1954, where she resided until her death.

    Kathleen was a licensed practical nurse, and worked in the Doctors Memorial Hospital in Perry for 19 years. Later she worked at the Perry Nursing Home, then as a home health care nurse, then at Watkins Construction Co. during plant shutdowns, and kept children in her home. She loved babies, small children cats and dogs. She will be missed by all.

    Kathleen was preceded in death by: her husband, William Sam Davis, Jr.; her infant daughter, Sara; her parents, Arthur H. Ringer and Josephine Polhill Ringer; and her sister, Dora Markle.

    She is survived by: her children, Kathy Davis Wiles (Denny) of Perry, William “Bill” Davis III (Camille) of Tallahassee, Robert “Bob” Davis (Dianne) of Tallahassee and Thomas “Tom” Davis (Kathie) of Tavares; her grandchildren, Michael Wiles of Perry, Joy Padgett (Marlon) of Mayo and John Davis (Angela) of Tallahassee; six great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and “two other” grandchildren, Drew Whitfield and Caylan Johnson; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 15 at the chapel of Burns Funeral Home at 11 a.m. with Bro. Bill Jenkins and Bro. Curt Whitfield officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today (Friday). All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Taylor County Animal Shelter, or the American Heart Association.
