Mother of three killed in explosion

Christina Vann Patterson beamed with a mother’s pride as she hugged her youngest son tight and prepared to send him off to the Marines.

Surrounded by her family, it was a bittersweet, happy moment.

The mother of three and her husband, Herb, celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in August, and were looking forward to many more years together.

However, her life was cut tragically short Friday when Patterson, 42, was killed in an explosion at AMETC Less-Lethal Systems (ALS).
