    Marie Davis Lanier

    Marie Davis Lanier, 73, died Sept. 14, 2018, in Perry. Marie was born May 31, 1945, in Perry to Amos Davis and Edna Lillian McCall Davis.

    Marie was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Perry. She worked with the Taylor County school system in administrative services, and she later worked in purchasing for Chemring Ordinance. Marie was an active member of the church, helping and assisting in any way she could serve. She was devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved her family to the fullest.

    Marie was preceded in death by: her parents, Amos Davis and Edna Lillian Davis: and her brother, Robert “Bud” Davis.

    Marie is survived by: her husband of 55 years, Arthur Dewayne Lanier; her children, Sondra Lanier (Ovidiu) of Lake City and Cathy (David) Palomino of Mayo; her sisters, Diane (Gary) Jinks and Lillian (Don) White; her brother, Charles (Charlene) Davis; and her grandchildren, Glen Hammers, Connor Williams, Grace Williams, Kaci Palomino and Ana Palomino; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Perry with Pastor Steven Ruff and Pastor Jack Anderson officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Woodlawn Cemetery.

    The family received friends from 3-5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 16, at Burns Funeral Home of Perry, and from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the church. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry. In lieu of flowers donations can made to Big Bend Hospice or the First Baptist Church Youth Camp Fund.
