    Water rises and sparks fly…

    Posted on October 12, 2018

With maximum sustained winds of 155 mph, Hurricane Michael was the most powerful hurricane to strike the Florida Panhandle in recorded history — devastating much of the Emerald Coast, including Mexico Beach and Panama City.

However, here in Taylor County, the damage was limited to coastal flooding and power outages, thanks mostly to the storm’s tightly-condensed nature, with hurricane-force winds only extending about 50 miles from its center.

Duke Energy linemen quickly responded to the scene and had power restored within less than an hour.
