Residents mobilize to help neighbors in the Panhandle

    Posted on October 19, 2018

After escaping deadly Hurricane Michael with no major damage, Taylor County residents have turned their attention to helping those less fortunate in the Florida Panhandle.

According to Taylor County Emergency Management (TCEM) Director and Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) Chief Chuck Mincy, county officials have identified 126 local properties that were affected by Hurricane Michael, but none rise to the “major” level of damage.

In less than 24 hours, more than $3,000 was collected from residents and businesses in Steinhatchee. The supplies were purchased and the trailers were loaded Sunday so that the trucks could head out on Monday morning.
