Community service director steps down

Just over six months after being hired to fill a new position to oversee the local public library, county boat ramps, parks and recreation and manage community centers and facility rentals, Taylor County Community Services Director Deidra Newman abruptly resigned Tuesday, Nov. 13.

Newman told Perry Newspapers she gave more than two weeks of notice and intended to work until Nov. 30.
