DeSantis, Scott, Fried are officially winners

    Posted on November 21, 2018

Eleven days after the 2018 general election — a period of time that included two recounts, multiple lawsuits and national ridicule levied against Florida — the Sunshine State’s votes were finally officially tallied and submitted, bringing an end to the partisan saga.

In the governor’s race, Republican Ron DeSantis has officially defeated Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum by 32,463 votes (out of a total of 8,220,561 ballots cast statewide), as the machine recount resulted in both candidates picking up votes and the margin between the two narrowing only slightly.
