Acting County Administrator LaWanda Pemberton may soon be able to drop the “acting” portion of her title, as commissioners hope to approve a contract at their next meeting.
Pemberton was unanimously appointed to fill the county’s top job at a special Nov. 14 meeting after former administrator Ted Lakey was terminated in a 4-0 vote. While commissioners made it clear that she was not serving in an interim or temporary role, Pemberton said she preferred to keep the word “acting” in her title until a contract was finalized.
