Martha Oglesby Stephens Bell, 82, of Lee, died Nov. 21, 2018, in Perry surrounded by family and friends. Martha was born Dec. 4, 1935, in Waycross, Ga. to Dessie Howard Oglesby and Ellie Dyal Oglesby.
Martha was of the Baptist faith and was a member of First Baptist Church of Perry. Martha worked with Taylor County School System as a teacher, retiring after 29 years. Martha was a hairdresser for many years. She loved spending time with her husband and family. After marrying Raymond and retiring, she enjoyed traveling and seeing the mountains. She was a true “Southern Belle,” always dressed to the nines, whether she was going fishing, camping, or just out to dinner. She loved spending time on her iPad and staying in touch with Facebook.
Martha was preceded in death by: her parents, Dessie Howard Oglesby and Ellie Dyal Oglesby.
Martha is survived by: her husband of 29 years, Raymond Edmond Bell; her children, Amanda (Bish) Clark, Kearney (Cindy) Stephens, Jim Stephens, Belinda (Bobby) King, Steve Bell, Cyndi (Todd) Soety and Jennifer (Dwight) Willke; her twin sister, Mary Jackson; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Perry with Bro. David Stephens officiating. Interment services followed immediately afterwards in Midway Baptist Church Cemetery in Lee. The family received friends from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at First United Methodist Church of Perry. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Big Bend Hospice. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
