Springhill Cemetery restoration begins

Work is now underway to restore a historic cemetery associated with one of the county’s oldest churches, and the Taylor County Commission has agreed to offer its assistance to the project.

Springhill Cemetery is located near Green Street at the original site of Springhill Baptist Church, which dates back to 1853. After the church burned in 1923, it was rebuilt at its current site in 1925, and the old cemetery was slowly reclaimed by the forests of Taylor County.
