    James Riley “Jimmy” Pridgeon Sr.

    James Riley “Jimmy” “Uncle Porky” Pridgeon Sr., 72, died Dec.16, 2018 in Tallahassee. Jimmy was born Sept. 29, 1946, in Shamrock to Berlin Haywood Pridgeon and Ida Mae Whitfield Pridgeon.

    Jimmy was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship. Jimmy worked with Buckeye Cellulose Mill as a waste treatment operator for 38 years, retiring in 2003. Jimmy was very active with the Point of Grace Christian School, and was affectionately known as “Uncle Porky” to the students. He enjoyed fellowship and there is no telling how many meals he has prepared for the church and school over the years. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and hunting.

    Jimmy was preceded in death by: his parents, Berlin Haywood Pridgeon and Ida Mae Pridgeon; and his brother, Larry H. Pridgeon.

    Jimmy is survived by: his wife of 41 years, Frances “Sweet Tater” Pridgeon; his children, Jeri P. Abercrombie (Ricky), James Riley Pridgeon, Jr. (Alanna), Kathy Linton, Donna Gilbreath and Jimmy Dale Jackson;his brothers, Billy Pridgeon and Eddie Pridgeon; his sisters, Linda William sand Margaret Ricketson; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 20, 2018, at 12p.m. at Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship with Bro. Eddie Pridgeon and Bro. Randy Maubach officiating. Interment services will follow immediately afterwards inNew Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11-12 p.m. Thursday,Dec. 20, at Crosspoint Baptist Fellowship. For those who wish, they can make donations to Point of Grace Christian School in Jimmy’s memory. All arrangements are under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
