Frankye Mae (Hyrd) Sermons

Frankye Mae (Hyrd) Sermons, 87, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018. Frankye was the beloved daughter of the late Maedell Jackson, born March 23, 1931, in Perry.

She married Willie James Sermons, Sr. on March 13, 1948. To that union, two daughters and three sons were born.

Frankye was a loyal member of New Brooklyn M.B. Church. In addition to her administrative skills, she was a licensed beautician.

Frankye will remain forever in the hearts of: her five children, Dr. Brenda Magee, Willie James Sermons (Yvonne), Charles Stanley Sermons (Gracine), Wayne Sermons and Dr. Wanza Sermons-Lee (Willie); two sisters, Sarah S. Hall and Mary E. Jones; one brother, the Rev. George E. Clayton (Sandra); ten grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Dec. 26, from 5-6 p.m. at New Brooklyn M.B. Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 27, at 11 a.m. at New Brooklyn M.B. Church. Internment was held immediately afterward at Springhill Cemetery.
