    Posted on March 20, 2019

Taylor County’s 2019 MoonPie Princesses will be crowned during ceremonies Friday, March 22, at Forest Capital Hall.

The field of candidates features 35 bluegrass sweethearts in two age group categories: 5 to 6 and 7 to 8.

The pageant will begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $5 (children ages 5 and under are free). Concessions will be available.

The event is being held in conjunction with the 17th annual Florida State Bluegrass Festival.

2018 MoonPie Princess Gentry Stanley (5-6 age category) and MoonPie Princess Kirah Lynn Grace Dibler (7-8 age category) will crown their successors.

Judges will select a MoonPie Princess, a MoonPie Princess court and bluegrass sweethearts from each age division.

The young ladies will share with audience members “What bluegrass means to me” in the program’s opening number.

They will return to the stage for a formal wear competition and will tell the audience their favorite MoonPie flavors.

The winners and their courts will be special guests at the bluegrass festival slated April 4-6 and will represent the festival at events throughout the year, including the Florida Forest Festival King Tree Parade.

The princesses, courts and bluegrass sweethearts will hand out complimentary MoonPies during the bluegrass festival Saturday, April 6, at 2:30 p.m.

MoonPie, the Perry- Taylor County Chamber of Commerce and Florida State Bluegrass Festival are sponsoring the pageant.

Emergency Management Deputy Director Kristy Anderson and Community Emergency Response Team volunteers will staff the concessions booth.
