After hearing both support and opposition to establishing the “Coach Aaron Feis Guardian Program” in local schools, the Taylor County School Board voted 4-1 Tuesday night in favor of enhancing student safety by allowing certain vetted and trained school personnel to carry concealed weapons on campus.
Despite objections voiced by School Board Member Deidra Dunnell and several community members who spoke against allowing school staff to carry concealed firearms, the majority of the school board voted to move forward with the recommendation backed by Taylor County Sheriff Wayne Padgett, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover Jr. and a statewide commission on school safety.
