While he feels teachers deserve more pay, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover, Jr. says “there is not a lot of wiggle room” when it comes to the school district budget, due to rising expenses and stagnant education funding from the state and federal government.
“I believe teachers and non-instructional staff should both get paid more. Florida is ranked 47th in the nation in teacher pay. But, we have to be financially sound, because we don’t want to be in the same situation as some other districts, like Madison, who are facing major cuts and major deficits,” Glover said.
