After listening to pleas from charter captains and tourism representatives during its meeting Wednesday, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) delayed a decision on a series of proposed changes to spotted seatrout regulations that many speakers said would dramatically hurt the Big Bend coastal economy.
It was the second consecutive FWC meeting in which a strong showing from the Taylor County area seemed to sway the commissioners, after a large contingent of residents from Steinhatchee successfully campaigned to maintain an earlier start to the annual scallop season.
