DMH: former path was unsustainable

Referring to the current business model as “not sustainable,” members of the Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) Board of Directors say their recent decision to partner with Alliant Management Services was driven by the fact that the company possesses the experience and specialized expertise needed to successfully operate a small rural hospital.

Declining revenues, decreased utilization, reduced reimbursement, high levels of bad debt and uncompensated or indigent care are some of the factors contributing to the hospital continuing to operate in the red – even since the current DMH/Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) partnership was formed in late 2013.
