The Taylor County Bulldogs struggled mightily in their regular-season opener against Dixie County at home Friday, falling 40-14 in a game that saw the Bears control the ball and time of possession on offense with long, time-consuming drives powered by an effective rushing attack.
Using a combination of basic runs – trap and counter plays, power runs off tackle and motion pitch plays to the outside – Dixie County went almost exclusively to the ground game and pounded the Bulldog defense into submission, rushing 61 times for 328 yards and three touchdowns.
