In an attempt to alleviate a driver shortage causing up to hour-long waits for some local students, the Taylor County School Board has voted to waive the cost of fingerprint, physical and drug testing fees for substitute bus drivers for a one-year period.
At their Sept. 3 meeting, the school board voted 5-0 in favor of the recommendation from Superintendent of Schools Dr. Danny Glover, Jr. to waive the cost of the required fees, which can cost substitute bus drivers up to nearly $400 before they can become available to help cover school bus routes.
