Is it time to straighten out Deadman’s Curve?

The Taylor County Commission has taken another step toward straightening Deadman’s Curve on Beach Road, hiring a surveying firm to determine just how much land the county will need to acquire to accomplish its goal of improving safety at the 90-degree curve that has been the site of numerous fatality crashes over the years.

Officials with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) have told the commission on multiple occasions that if the county can secure the necessary property around the curve, the state agency will provide funding to reconstruct the curve in a safer configuration.
