Testimony in the murder trial of Lloyd Phelps, 59, peeled back the curtain on a story of crippling addictions, alleged jealousies and uncontrolled rage.

The all-white, five-man, one-woman jury began hearing from witnesses early Monday morning, July 22, with testimony continuing well into the following afternoon.

Leaning on the wall behind him is a key piece of evidence introduced by the prosecution, a bloodstained piece of plywood taken from Phelps’ master bedroom.
