    $100,000 in berries stolen here yearly?

    Four Rivers Land & Timber Company, the county’s largest landowner, is reportedly losing more than $100,000 a year due to stolen saw palmetto berries from its property, and claims the state attorney’s office is reportedly doing little to nothing to help the situation.

    That was the message delivered by Four Rivers’ Senior Vice President Travis McCoy to the Taylor County Commissioners Monday evening during an impromptu discussion on the issue. McCoy urged the county to put pressure on the state attorney’s office to “make it serious” concerning penalties for those caught stealing berries.
