Jexi is funny, but often mean-spirited

In today’s world, just about everyone has a smart phone, and almost as many people are on social media. In fact, of the people I know who are my age or younger, only three don’t have a Facebook account. But, is our obsession with our phones and digital friendships keeping us from actually getting out in the world and meeting people?

That’s the question facing Phil (Adam Devine, “Pitch Perfect”), the main character in “Jexi,” a raunchy comedy from the writers and directors of the “Bad Moms” movies. This is a funny film, although its comedy is surprisingly mean spirited at times, reducing its comedic effect for me.
