A tropical storm watch has been issued for the Taylor County coastline as forecasters with National Hurricane Center (NHC) are monitoring a developing system expected to become Tropical Storm Nestor.
As of press time Thursday, the storm had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, just below the threshold of a tropical storm. At the time, the system was moving toward the north at 7 mph, but forecasters were calling for the storm to take a northeasterly turn with a faster forward motion today (Friday) and Saturday.
According to Thursday’s advisory, the forecast is calling for 2 to 4 inches of rain accompanied by a storm surge of 3 to 5 feet along the Taylor County coast.
