    Court recommends ‘belated appeal’

    In 2018, Oriana Forsythe was sentenced to 30 years in prison and 10 years probation for the 2016 second degree murder of a Steinhatchee man.

    “You were asking me to risk your liberty for the rest of your life,” long-time local public defender Baya Harrison said to the handcuffed 20-year-old young woman standing before him.

    Due to what was described as a “miscommunication,” the criminal lawyer of 43 years was subject to questioning at an evidentiary hearing for his former client, convicted murderer Oriana Forsythe, on Monday, Oct. 21.
