Dunnell: Minorities, females deserve advantage

In addition to a “local bid preference” policy currently under consideration by the Taylor County School District, School Board Member Deidra Dunnell is advocating that minority and female-owned businesses also receive an advantage when bidding on contracts to provide goods and services to the school system.

During discussion on a proposed “local bid preference” policy at the school board’s Dec. 10 meeting (see related story), Dunnell sought support for including language that would give minority-owned and female-owned businesses an advantage.
