The Florida Forest Service (FFS) is urging landowners to exercise caution with fire, as conditions for wildfires become more prevalent, and has declared the fire danger level in this area as “high.”
As the state continues to dry out, the fire danger level may rise.
In the month of March there were 19 wildfires locally, with a majority started due to burning yard debris, legal pile burns, and legal broadcast burns.
When utilizing fire for commercial or recreational use, ensure you have the means to control the fire, are in an area safe to burn, and follow the burn laws of the State of Florida.
For the most up-to-date information on the fire danger level, and to obtain a burn authorization, contact the FFS at (850) 223-0751.
