Deputy resigns, faces charges

A Taylor County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputy who resigned in lieu of termination last week has been arrested on charges of misdemeanor battery and official misconduct following criminal and internal investigations.

According to an internal investigative report, during two separate incidents TCSO Sgt. Michael O’Connor twice delivered “closed fist strikes” to the face of a pregnant female suspect who head-butted him and kicked or kneed him during and after her arrest.
