Free virtual ‘camp’ for STEM students

    Posted on May 13, 2020

Local students are invited to take part in a free virtual “camp” hosted by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University this summer entitled “Launch into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Fun!”

“This will be a free, nine-day virtual event during which students take part in hands-on STEM fun online from any location. Students will work with instructors during live online sessions,” Taylor County High School (TCHS) math instructor Jenny Winters said.

Students will be able to select from – and attend – from one of the more than 90 learning sessions, each an hour-long.

The event is being sponsored by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and the Panhandle Area Educational Consortium (PAEC).

To register online, visit https://www.paec.org/LaunchintoSTEMFUN/ to create an account.

As soon as the session registration site is ready, students will be able to see the complete list and descriptions of the “Launch into STEM Fun” session and register for the sessions they want (this site is expected to be available on or before May 20).

The virtual event will be held June 2-4, June 9-11 and June 16-18, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.
