    Loriann ‘Lori’ Carlton Burns

    It is with great sadness that the family of Loriann Carlton Burns announces her death on Saturday, May 9 in Perry, at the age of 40.

    Lori was born on Sept, 21, 1979, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee. She grew up in Taylor County and graduated in Perry in 1998.

    Lori worked as an office manager at Neptune Society in Tallahassee and loved her job helping others in their times of need.

    Lori will be lovingly remembered by: her sons, Jeffrey D. Sullivan, 20, and eight-month-old Leeam “Ely” Davis; her mother and stepfather, Patricia Lee and David Shiflett of Crawfordville; sisters, Amanda Ballangee and Wendy Skalany of Lamont; brother, Wesley Carlton of Tallahassee; and a cousin who was more like a sister, Jumelia Lee of Perry.

    She was predeceased by her father, David Brown.

    Grandparents include: Marcy Lee of Ocala, Wilma Brown of Perry and the late Faye Rollings, Alvin Lee and Joseph Brown, all of Perry.

    Lori’s memory will be forever cherished by her numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and extended family and many close personal friends.

    Lori was a sweet, funny, happy-go-lucky and quick-witted. She was always smiling and was the life of the party.

    Family and friends will always remember Lori as a beautiful mother of two who was responsible, reliable and dependable.

    Lori had an outgoing personality paired with a sweet soul. She never met a stranger. Everyone loved her. Whether you knew her for years, or just met her, Lori was someone that was always a joy to be around.

    Lori was smart, loving, one-of-a-kind and had a warm smile and generous heart. She always had an encouraging word, never saw the bad in anyone, had no enemies and never had a disparaging word to say about anyone.

    She loved boating, swimming and mud-bogging, as well as bonfires, cook-outs and anything that included social and family gatherings.

    She will be remembered for her her distinctive laugh and contagious smile that lit up a room.

    The Neptune Society in Tallahassee, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.

    The family will schedule a memorial service at a later date and time.
