Despite hot and muggy conditions and the threat of rain, approximately one dozen participants took part in a “March Against Racism” Monday morning, winding their way from Perrytown Apartments on Warner Avenue to the vacant lot across from Munchies convenience store on Hwy. 19.
Afterward, organizers held a cook-out to feed an estimated 80 people using funds donated to a local “Equal Rights Committee.” Co-organizer Kimberly Eakins Henry said, “It was a great success, supporting the Equal Rights movement. I’d like to bring to light the positive things they’re trying to do in our community. I’d like to thank everyone who supported the cook-out as well.”
