Thanks to nearly $1 million in additional property tax revenue resulting from increased property values, the Taylor County Commission began crafting its 2020-21 budget this week with a projected $823,000 surplus in its general fund.
However, with significant uncertainty over state revenue sharing, as well as expected drops in local sales and gas tax revenues due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, commissioners stated they are taking a “conservative” approach to the budget.
