The Taylor County Commission has been given two pots of federal funds totaling nearly $4 million to help local residents and business owners impacted by the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Although county officials hope to be able to begin accepting applications by Aug. 14 from residents who need assistance with mortgage, rent or utility payments thanks to a special $175,000 allocation from the State Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) program, it will likely be September before the spending plan is ready for the county’s $3.7 million direct allocation from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
