With soft winds and less than one-foot waves, Taylor County Reef Research Team members could not have asked for better weather, as divers and drones took to the water to deploy more than 60 new artificial reef modules at the Buckeye Artificial Reef located some 20 nautical miles out from Keaton Beach.
Utilizing a barge and crane, the Taylor County Reef Research Team and the Taylor County Marine Extension Office lowered 66 one-ton concrete reef modules (or Lindberg cubes) approximately 50 underwater, placing them on the sandy bottom of the ocean floor at the popular artificial reef site off the coast of Taylor County Friday, July 31.
