Shark bites Steinhatchee scalloper

While most people participated in the Discovery Channel’s annual “Shark Week” by watching the ocean’s top predators on television, one Steinhatchee resident kicked off the week in the emergency room after a suspected blacktip reef shark sliced open her arm.

Christine Jenkins had spent the better part of Monday, August 10 scalloping with friends off the coast of Steinhatchee. Little did she know, she would collect more than just scallops that day.
