    Marjorie ‘Margie’ Turner Saults

    Posted on August 26, 2020

On Aug. 16, at the age of 84, Marjorie “Margie” Turner Saults traded her old body for a new, perfect one.

From family vacations camping on the Suwannee River, to dancing with her husband Bob at the Perry Elks Club and her volunteer work at Doctor’s Memorial Hospital and First Baptist Church, Margie lived her life fully.

She loved her family (including Sam, who never knew he was a dog), people and Christmas.

Margie was diagnosed with RA when she was just 38 years old, but decided it would not hold her back. And it did not.

Raised on a farm and part of a large family, she was mentally strong and fiercely independent. She cheered on her beloved Florida Gators, made beautiful handmade quilts for all her children and grandchildren, played bridge three times a week, baked her famous Christmas cookies from scratch, played handbells in her choir and much, much more. She loved hanging out in her pool which she called her “blue hole.”

Like many women of her generation, Margie did not get the opportunity to go to college after she graduated from high school. She started working full-time and raising her family.

But once she retired from Citizens Bank and sent her kids off to college, Margie enrolled in college as well. She graduated from North Florida Community College with an Associated of Arts degree and a high GPA. But that made total sense since she excelled in school, literally skipping two full grades in elementary school.

Margie is survived by: her children, Cindy Boatright (Schrunchie), Robin Saults (Kathy) and Guy Saults (Cheryl); her grandchildren, Jori Boatright, Jason Boatright (Ashlee), Cody Saults, Colby Saults, Jennifer Saults Matthews (Doug) and Andrew Saults; great-grandchildren, Talon and Ayva Boatright, and Arianna and Ashton Matthews; and sister, Barbara Simmons; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.

Due to COVID-19, the family will be having a small, intimate service over the next few weeks.

We invite you to share memories and photos via the online guest book at www.joepburnsfuneralhomes.com. In memory of Margie’s life, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
