The number of deaths attributed to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak has jumped to 10 in Taylor County.
Although the four most recent deaths were all reported this week, the positive test dates actually occurred back in early or mid-August, according to information provided by the Florida Department of Health (DOH).
Those who have died range in age from 68 to 92, and include four women and six men.
Among Taylor County’s immediate neighbors, Madison has reported 16 deaths associated with coronavirus, followed by Lafayette County with 10, Jefferson County with six and Dixie County with four.
DOH has reported there have been two deaths among the inmate population at Taylor Correctional Institution (TCI) attributed to COVID-19.
The individual information provided by DOH on the Taylor County residents who have reportedly died due to the disease include:
• 78-year-old female, June 5;
• 71-year-old male, July 14;
• 91-year-old female, July 14;
• 62-year-old male, July 22;
• 69-year-old female, Aug. 3;
• 88-year-old male, Aug. 6;
• 75-year-old male, Aug. 7;
• 92-year-old female, Aug. 8;
• 68-year-old male, Aug. 18; and
• 79-year-old male, Aug. 20.
Since the first case of coronavirus was reported in Taylor County in April, there have been 1,215 positive cases. Of those, 681 were inmates at TCI.
