    City crews clears ‘unsafe’ property

    Demolition crews began tearing down make-shift fencing, lean-to structures and tent-like shelters scattered throughout the property located at 328 East Park Street Wednesday morning, more than a year after the City of Perry began a legal battle that included multiple notices citing “unsafe” and “unsanitary” conditions.

    City of Perry solid waste department trucks equipped with knuckle boom loaders and a bulldozer slowly dismantled and hauled off debris and structures located in various areas of the East Park Street property, beginning with the black plastic tarp “fence” wrapped around the perimeter that had become a familiar sight for Old Dixie Highway motorists.
