Two residents and 15 staff members of Marshall Health and Rehabilitation tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) as recently as Monday, Sept. 28, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
The 17 active cases at Marshall were added to Taylor County’s cumulative total of 56 positive COVID-19 cases associated with local long-term care facilities. The 56 cases in long-term care facilities represents 4% of Taylor County’s overall total number of cases (1,327).
Consulate Health Care, the parent company to Marshall Health and Rehabilitation, had not returned requests for comment as of press time.
Taylor County’s positive coronavirus cases topped 1,327 Tuesday, a 20% infection rate out of 6,604 people that had been tested since the pandemic struck the county in early April.
Of the county’s 1,327 cases, 43 (3%) have been hospitalized and 13 people (1%) who had previously tested positive have died.
Approximately 56% of Taylor County’s positive cases are linked to correctional institutions. A total of 745 positive tests results are associated with inmates and/or staff members at Taylor Correctional Institution.
DOH-Taylor will continue to offer community COVID-19 testing on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at the DOH-Taylor office in Perry. Pre-register by calling (850) 584-5087.
