Marie “Peewee” Leggett Kemp passed away on Oct. 2, 2020, at Rehabilitation Center of South Georgia in Tifton, Ga., after a long battle with dementia.
She was born in Perry on Oct. 26, 1945, to Richard and Grace (Hodges) Leggett.
Marie was a hairdresser and the owner of Novella’s Beauty Salon for many years. She enjoyed her flower garden and spending time with her large extended family. Marie was a member of the Community Church of Perry.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her sister, Richie Dean “Coot” Holt; and her brothers, Roland Lee “Sonny Man” Leggett and Ronald Leggett, all of Perry.
Marie leaves behind two daughters, Lechia Garrison and husband, Shane, of Warwick, Ga., and Marilyn Teal Morgan and fiance, Tim Williams, of Perry; and her son, Hulon Teal, and girlfriend, Jennifer Cashman, of Perry.
She is survived by nine grandchildren, Shannon (Seth) Parker of Perry, Hannah (Steve) Vickers of Pavo, Ga., Shelly (Majid) Hardan of Perry, Ninah (Brooks) Wheeler of Quitman, Ga., Melony (Devin) Teal of Boston, Ga., Grace Garrison of Warwick, Ga., Alex Teal of Pinetta, Thomas Garrison of Warwick, Ga., and Savannah Morgan of Perry; as well as 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Community Church of Perry, 2317 Dennis Howell Rd.
The family asks that you bring your pictures and stories as we remember and celebrate the amazing woman she was.
